The mĀlie project
The Mālie project has a dual purpose: to enhance the well-being of each participant and to contribute to the overall betterment of the broader Pasifika youth community.
Specifically tailored for Tula’i Alumni (aged 18-25 years), however, we have recently opened this project up to referrals, either self-referral or professional. This initiative is crafted to accompany young people on their journey as they transition from Secondary School to higher education and/or employment.
The Malie Project is delivered through one-on-one mentoring sessions and compulsory attendance to workshops. The workshops are designed and facilitated to address the holistic needs of a young person. We liken this project to the Te Whare Tapa Wha framework around well-being. We work in partnership with fellow Pasifika professionals in our West Auckland community to facilitate physical, emotional, mental and social workshops.
Within this project, there is a dedicated space for participants to connect, engage in talanoa, acquire knowledge, and share tools and skills. The intention is to foster ongoing support for those who seek it.
The ultimate goal is to promote equitable outcomes for Pasifika young adults, ensuring that continual development occurs through a human-centered design approach.
If you are a young person interested in this support or you are a youth worker, parent or teacher who knows a young person who would benefit from this pastoral support, please register interest in the link below.
