Grounded in Values, Measured by Impact: Tula’i 2025

Two of our 2025 Tula’i Ngāue Tuakana

As we reflect on the past year, we are reminded that Tula’i’s impact is not measured only in numbers, but in relationships, confidence built, and futures strengthened through collective effort.

This year has been one of deep listening, purposeful action, and continued growth. Across West Auckland, Pasifika rangatahi, educators, whānau, and community partners have walked alongside us—each contributing their time, wisdom, and commitment to shaping pathways of hope and leadership.

Grounded in Values, Guided by Community

At the heart of Tula’i’s work are our core values: Love, Humility, Reciprocal Relationships, and Respect. These values guide how we show up in community, how we design and deliver our programmes, and how we hold responsibility for the young people entrusted to our care.

Throughout the year, these values were evident in action—through talanoa that centred lived experience, leadership development that honoured identity and culture, and partnerships that reflected a shared commitment to Pasifika wellbeing.

Programme Impact Across the Year

Through Tula’i Ngāue, rangatahi explored leadership grounded in Pacific values, strengthening their sense of belonging and responsibility to community. The Tuakana Vaka continued to serve as a vital pou, with alumni returning to lead, mentor, and give back—demonstrating leadership through service.

Our Inspiring Growth for Pasifika (IG) programme supported younger students during critical transition years, reinforcing confidence, aspiration, and connection through a village-based approach involving schools, aiga, and partner organisations.

Beyond programmes, our PPF Impact Forums that inspired Tula’i’s first-ever Pasifika Teachers Fono (Fono o Faiako Pasifika) created spaces for collective dialogue, shared learning, and community development. These initiatives highlighted the importance of collaboration across education, community, and sector leaders in shaping systems that better serve Pasifika communities.

Listening to Voices, Shaping Futures

A defining feature of this year was the intentional centring of voices—particularly those of rangatahi and Pasifika educators. From programme reflections to community forums, insights shared informed how we adapt, grow, and advocate.

This commitment was further reinforced through engagement with national kaupapa, including the Dear Children campaign led by Mana Mokopuna - the Office of the Children’s Commissioner. These moments reminded us that safeguarding and uplifting children and young people is a shared responsibility, requiring collective leadership and long-term vision.

Collective Effort, Shared Responsibility

None of this work happens in isolation. Our progress this year reflects the strength of partnership—schools who open their doors, funders who invest in community-led solutions, organisational partners, mentors and Tuakana who give generously of their time, and whānau who trust us with their young people.

Together, these relationships form the foundation for sustainable, intergenerational change.

Looking Ahead with Purpose

As we look to the year ahead, Tula’i remains committed to deepening impact rather than simply expanding reach. We will continue to strengthen leadership pathways, support Pasifika educators and rangatahi, and advocate for approaches that reflect the realities and strengths of our communities.

Our Annual Report captures more than a year of activity—it reflects a collective journey shaped by trust, service, and shared purpose. If you would like a copy of our report, please connect with us directly.

We are grateful to all who walk alongside us and look forward with hope and determination to what lies ahead.

Tenkyu, fa’afetai tele lava, vinaka vakalevu, malo ‘aupito.
