Drewzilla Tepora
Pogia-Liaina
Project Lead - Malie Project
Drewzilla is a first-generation New Zealander of Samoan and Niuean heritage, with family roots in Lotofagā, Safata (Samoa) and Mutalau (Niue). She is the Lead of The Malie Project, a youth development initiative dedicated to supporting Pasifika young people in West Auckland as they transition from high school or tertiary education into adulthood.
With several years of experience working alongside young people, Drewzilla brings a strong background in youth development, pastoral support, and community engagement. Her passion for serving youth is deeply rooted in lived experience. Having witnessed firsthand the systemic inequities that continue to impact many Pasifika families, Drewzilla is committed to creating spaces where young people feel seen, heard, valued, and supported. She has worked extensively with young people facing complex and high-risk circumstances, bringing both professional expertise and genuine compassion to every relationship she builds.
Drewzilla's work is grounded in the strength of her community and guided by her faith in God. Her faith inspires a life of service, humility, and action, shaping her commitment to giving back and investing in the next generation. She believes that every young person deserves someone who will walk alongside them, celebrate their successes, and support them through life's challenges.
She is excited to see the lasting impact The Malie Project continues to have on Pasifika talavou across West Auckland. By creating opportunities for growth, connection, and belonging, Drewzilla hopes to empower young people to seek support when they need it and to recognise that asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it is a courageous step towards becoming the person they are called to be.
